Former Concordia High School football coach Ron Culwell will be the guest speaker at the Lions Club Football Banquet scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Catholic Parish Hall.
This is the 60th year for the annual banquet which honors the Concordia football players and coaches.
Culwell coached the Concordia Panthers to the Class 4A state championship in 1999.
Born in Oklahoma, and raised in Texas, Culwell played football at Wichita State University.
Culwell coached for 37 years in Kansas and Oklahoma, and was a head coach for 28 years. He led teams to 15 playoff appearances and won six district, six bi-district, four regional and two sub-state/area championships.
Voted the Kansas Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 1999, Culwell coached in the Kansas Shrine Bowl in 2000.
