Dortha Harp Thompson, of Brownwood, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, at the age of 96.
Graveside services for Dortha will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early. No visitation will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Dortha was born to Ben and Rosa (Milner) Harp on Oct. 29, 1922, in Eldorado, Oklahoma. Dortha married the love of her life, Grady Thompson, on May 27, 1946, at Central United Methodist Church of Brownwood. They shared 65 years together before his passing in March 2011.
Dortha was a banker for Stone Fort National Bank of Nacogdoches; she retired as Vice President and Manager of Loans after 35 ½ years at STFNB of Nacogdoches. She and Grady moved to Brownwood where she then served as Assistant Vice President of Citizens National Bank for 11 years before officially retiring. She was a long-time member of Central United Methodist Church of Brownwood.
Dortha was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Thompson; parents, Ben and Rosa Harp; brother, William Lee Harp; sisters, Cleo Harp Smith and Aline Harp Pittman; paternal grandparents, the Rev. William Harp and Bettie (Diloworth) Harp; and maternal grandparents, James W. Milner and Mary Martha (Fraze) Milner.
