New Citizens Bank of WV has drive-thru service - Record Delta

BUCKHANNON — The hands on the clock tower signaled noon and on Friday that meant it was time to celebrate the grand opening of Citizens Bank of West Virginia’s new location, 77 W. Main St. in Buckhannon.

Moving two blocks westward on Main Street allowed Citizens Bank of West Virginia to build a new, 4,700 square foot full-service facility with a drive-thru on the site of the former Bill Kelley, Inc. Previously, Citizens Bank  of West Virginia occupied office space on East Main Street.

Nathaniel Bonnell, president and CEO of Citizens Bank of West Virginia, said, “We have called Upshur County home since 2014. We opened down the street four years ago and in those four years we have produced millions of dollars of loans.

“The growth and vitality of this market has been really good for us and a great place to do business. The spirit of community is really strong in Buckhannon. We are thankful to have been welcomed to this community and we call this community home now. It’s been a great home.”

Gina Ball has been the branch manager of the Buckhannon location since it opened in 2014.

“We definitely enjoyed the location on East Main Street, but this is going to give us a lot more space and expansion for our customers too,” she said. “Everybody loves the building. The location is good and the drive-thru has been an added bonus to the bank. We have been welcomed very warmly and the expansion has just been amazing for the customers and us.”

The new $2.6 million location comes with a three-lane drive-thru, over 40 off-street parking spaces, an on-site ATM and an additional office space for rent.

Bonnell told those gathered for the luncheon, “We recognize there are many places you can do your banking. We want to earn your business. We are a community bank in every sense of the word. Decisions will be made in this building now. We don’t ship it out to some corporate office far, far away. We would love for you to come explore our account offerings, our loan offerings and meet our folks. Try us out.”

Councilman Robbie Skinner is one of those who have tried out Citizens Bank of West Virginia and said he was proud to have the bank’s name on the bottom of his checks because of their commitment to the Buckhannon and Upshur County Community.

“We thank you Citizens Bank of West Virginia for your initial investment into our community four years ago,” Skinner said.  “Your philosophical approach to local banking is unrivaled by your competition in this community.

“You stepped up to financially support countless events and projects including major sponsorships for the West Virginia Strawberry Festival as well as the city’s Fourth of July events at Jawbone Park.

“Without your support and sponsorship, we would not have been able to provide fireworks to our community for the past two years.

“Thank you for believing in us. Thank you for taking a chance on us. Thank you for welcoming us into your family just as we have welcomed you. Thank you for constructing this beautiful building that has illuminated West Main Street, and thus adding to the vibrancy and color of our already stunning downtown. Thank you for growing with us, as we hope to grow with you.

“We’re grateful that you are here in Buckhannon because our community is a better place because you came over here to set up shop and you made us feel like we mattered.”

Citizens Bank of West Virginia will offer its full line of services at the new location as it did previously, according to Bonnell.

The bank added business development officer Jennifer Poling to the Buckhannon office full time several months ago.

In addition, an investment advisor will be coming to Buckhannon one to two days a week from the bank’s wealth management division.

“We have added several trust clients in this market already,” Bonnell said.
