Citizens Bank on Ninth Street closing, relocating - Reading Eagle

Reading, PA —

Citizens Bank will officially close its Reading branch on 956 N. Ninth St. at 2 p.m. today and open its new branch a half mile away at 628 Greenwich Street at 9 a.m. Monday.

All customer accounts will automatically be transferred to the new branch. According to information published by bank officials.

In a note to customers, bank officials said "there is nothing you need to do."

Those with questions were asked to call 800-922-9999.

The move was originally slated to occur about a month ago, but was delayed. The cause of that delay was not disclosed, and Citizens Bank officials did not return calls to the Reading Eagle.

Citizens Financial Group, Inc., the bank's parent company, is headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island.

With assets totaling $158.6 billion it is the 13th largest bank in the country. It's deposits of $117.1 billion are the 11th highest in the nation, and its 2,900 ATM's are seventh.

Citizens has eight locations in Berks County including two in the City of Reading.

Nationwide, it has 1,150 branches in 11 states in the New England, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions. It has 318 Pennsylvania branches.
